Purpose

Specification management in Basic Data and Tools allows you to manage in the SAP system all types of data on specifications, such as physical-chemical properties, toxicological data, and compositions.

Specifications can also be components of a product. In the SAP system products are stored as materials. So, if materials to which specifications are assigned are to be inspected in Quality Management , the inspection plans must also contain the relevant specification data.

Using the QM interface, you can create inspection plans from the data that already exists in specification management . This means you do not have to enter redundant data and the specification data is consistent in all inspection plans.

The inspection plans are created in Basic Data and Tools . You can then open the inspection plans in the SAP Quality Management component and adapt them to your requirements.
